Friday 30th June

Mum had a hospital appointment today so we were out for most of the day,  I read a few more chapters of Great Expectations and we met a new character named Biddy. She is teaching him (Pip) to become  uncommon.

On our way home we went in the Millennium Gallery and looked at 3 exhibitions,
The first was Sheffield based artists and was called 'Everything Flows' My favourite in this room was the film about tools and how they move (Kinetic motion).
Next we went in the silver room and then the final Exhibition was The Ruskin Prize, my favourite in this Exhibition was a giant rug on the back wall, hidden in the rug is the 3d shape of a bear as if it was behind the rug, its called "Persian Bear"by Debbie Lawson. I also liked "Sea Fax" by Briony O'Clarke.

Thursday 29th June

Todays Lessons,

Science - Learning about plant and animal cells.

History - Read a chapter of 'The frightful First World War'
An interesting quote that I found out - "Never Light 3 Cigarettes With A Single Match"
The reason the soldiers where told this is because an enemy sniper could be watching
"First light will catch his eye, second light he'll fix his sights, third light...he'll pull the trigger!"

English Literature - Great Expectations...the story so far
We meet Pip (main character), who is a young orphaned boy who lives with his horrible sister Mrs Joe Gargery and his brother in law, Mr Joe Gargery.
Pip meets an escaped prisoner who tells him to get him a file. Pip steals a pie and takes it to him as well. While having dinner, his sister discovers the pie is missing just as soldiers arrive to tell them some prisoners have escaped. They all go out to the moors and see the prisoners captured and taken away, before they take him away the convict confesses to stealing the pie to stop Pip getting in trouble. Mr Pumblechook then comes and takes Pip to Miss Havisham's house to play with a girl called Estella who is lonely and rude. Pip's sister (Miss Joe Gargery) died.
