Great Expectations

Character summaries

Philip Pirip
I think that Pip is a good person with a kind heart. He sometimes makes mistakes and treats people wrongly (Jo Gargery and Magwitch) but deep down he has a good heart.
Estella
I think that Estella is a good person but then is brought up to be mean, but in the end she is ok.
Mr Jo Gargery
I think that Jo is very nice, for example he said he didn't begrudge Magwitch a piece of pie, but is a not very clever and can be embarrassing.
Mrs Jo
Mrs Jo is Pips sister, she is a very mean person, I think this because she is selfish and doesn't think about anyone else.

Magwitch is a convict so at the beginning we think that he is cruel and that he is evil but then Later we find out that he was sent to prison for attacking the man that hurt his wife, so we start to realise that he is a good person, he is just a mistaken victim.
He also tells Pip the money isn't from doing anything criminal, he has been keeping sheep, so Pip realises that Magwitch was a  wronged man, he has been unfairly treated, for example the man who attacked his wife got a lean sentence (because he was rich), Magwitch got a long prison sentence because he was poor, which is extremely unfair because all he was doing, was protecting his wife.

Week Two

It's been a busy week with lots of  appointments and classes so I have decided to do a summery for the whole week this time.
Last weekend was really cool, we went to Brampton banger races with Grandad. I prefer the Banger races more than the other races because there's more crashes, there was one car ended up on its roof though, that was pretty amazing, the driver was only about my age!

It was also the village festival so everybody was out doing the scarecrow trail, my scarecrow was Vanelope Von Shweetz from Wreck it Ralf but I don't think many people knew who she was! My last few DT lessons were designing a Disney themed scarecrow and making the sweets from fimo for her hair. I enjoyed making the sweets but we ended up making them 3 times because mum kept burning them in the oven!

In Geography I finished my fact collecting about Scotland, next I will be making a Powerpoint with all the information.
Monday afternoon I had my first proper drumming lesson with Bob which was really fun because we made a little list of things I need to remember while drumming, these where: G-P-L (Grip-Posture-Left foot)
We didn't get to swimming/hydrotherapy this week because I had a physio appointment with James, I did some running and hurt my ankles :(  James is putting an exercise program together for me to do excercises at home, he also told mum that the best exercise he can recommend for hypermobility is climbing wall, I think this would be one of the best prescriptions ever!
After physio I went to Kip McGrath for an assessment, my mum signed me up for Maths and English classes 2 nights a week. its not cool but it is better than school so I don't mind it too much.

On Wednesday we went to Saltaire with mums friends from craft club, we spent ages trying to find a café that was wheelchair friendly, in the end me and mum went for a picnic by the river. Next we went in the Salts Mill, we went around the David Hockney Galleries and the shops and museum bit, we watched a film about the man who built the Salts Mill and all the town houses around it, it's named after a man called Sir Titus Salts, he built the Mill and the village because he wanted to do something about the awful conditions and slums that workers had to live in in those times, it opened in 1853 and produced cloth that was shipped all over the world. Unfortunately for us, most of the village buildings have big stone steps and there are lots of cobbled streets, not good for mine and mums ribs.
I picked a new book from the book shop in the mill about a kid that is blind and I picked a postcard of my favourite Hockney painting, its one of the paintings he made on his ipad. I'm going to have a go at painting on the ipad for my next Art class.

Thursday I started to work on my next Science topic The Human Body, this week I did about bones and muscles. I also read a bit more of my History book about World War 1. The conditions were terrible and some of the things they had to eat were gross, the Germans had to eat fake food like bread made with sawdust and coffee made with nuts and coal tar! They did beetle racing and swimming but it was dangerous because the beaches were being shelled and the beaches were full of dead horses and mules.
I went to my first Kip McGrath class (Maths), it wasn't bad but they also gave me homework :(

On Friday we had to go to the Hospital again because my rash was back on my chest, lucky though because the doctor didn't do the biopsy this time, next time I wont get away with it though and she said I have to have the blood tests again when I come for my next appointment. Mum had an appointment to get her wheelchair seat changed in the afternoon so I sat and read my new book while I waited, it was a bit confusing because I thought the character in the book was a boy at first but it turns out its about a blind girl, she is dealing with a bereavement.

Saturday I went to Coding club at the library and did some work on Scratch, I made an interactive band on a stage, and then I showed mum and Rob the ghost I did moving about on the screen. After we went Bowling, I came second! It was a pretty good day :)
