Custard-
First I mixed the custard powder smoothly with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1/4 pint of milk, and put the other 3/4 on heat.
Then when the rest of the water was nearly boiling we poured it onto the mixed custard, stirring well. After, I returned the custard to the pan, and stirred until it was boiling. Then I removed the custard from the heat and I put the custard in the fridge, covered.
Jelly-
First I dissolved the jelly in 3/4 pint of boiling water. Then I let it cool a little before pouring over the broken sponge pieces. Then I put it in the fridge next to the custard.
When jelly was set I poured on the custard and put back in the fridge to set while preparing the cream topping.
Dream topping
mix the topping with milk and whisk vigorously for around 3 or 4 minutes.
Spread the topping over the trifle and sprinkle with hundreds and thousands before serving.
